Monday Morning Fly By: The train is already full

*The Flyers beat the Ducks! Finally! Thanks to Wayne Simmonds, who has made it clear in three games that he’s going to give us a hell of a season. RECAP!

*It was a good win, too. The Ducks took the Flyers to overtime, but there were a lot of good things from our boys Saturday night. [Philly.com]

*You’ve probably noticed that there hasn’t been a ton of flashiness from Nolan Patrick so far. This isn’t a bad thing. [Philly.com]

*The Flyers are still carrying eight defensemen. Who do you think is getting the axe when the time comes? [Philly.com]

*It would appear that Travis Sanheim is sticking, which is good. But Sam Morin still hasn’t been given a shot. Which is bad. [Philly.com]

*One of the more interesting things to come out of Saturday’s game was Nolan Patrick’s move to the third line. Boruk is calling this a “demotion”, but it’s only that if you’re stuck in outdated hockey paradigms. If you’re doing it right, your lines are numbered, not ranked. Patrick with Konecny could be a fun thing to watch if it works. [NBC Sports Philly]

*So while it is objectively sucky that we won’t see NHL players in the Olympics this year, it’s objectively cool that guys from other pro leagues will get a chance at bit-time glory. [Sportsnet]

*And finally, if your hockey arena isn’t filled with fans, fill it with a giant television! [ProHockeyTalk]
