Wednesday Morning Fly By: Richards Scores, Canada Wins

Today’s open discussion thread, including your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

  • Yesterday’s men’s Olympic scores… USA 3, SUI 1CAN 8, NOR 0RUS 8, LAT 2
  • The USA women also won yesterday, routing Russia 13-0 to move on to the semifinals.
  • Mike Richards scored Canada’s third goal on Tuesday as part of their 8-0 demolition of Norway, which was a lot closer than the score shows.
  • Chris Pronger had an assist in the first period. Also, he was on the power play unit with Sidney Crosby, and an exorcism will need to be performed when he returns to Philadelphia late next week.
  • Oskars Bartulis was a -1 in 16:14 of ice time for Latvia. He also picked up a cross checking penalty in the first period for showing some Russian who’s boss. Alex Ovechkin may or may not have scored on the ensuing power play.
  • Not much going on elsewhere in the hockey world. Kimmo Timonen is in action today for Finland.
  • Today’s episode of BSH Radio, with guest Mike Boone (the guy who called us Nazis) was recorded last night and will be available later this evening. Sorry for the mild delay.
  • Most of the Phillies pitchers and catchers are in Clearwater, including this dude. [The Fightin’s]
