Andrew Johnston has a concussion

Andrew Johnston has some unfortunate luck.

The Flyers prospect, currently in his first professional season, was sent from the Adirondack Phantoms to the Trenton Titans back in mid-November in order to get some extra playing time. He had been a healthy scratch in the AHL and the organization wanted him to get an opportunity to play a ton in the ECHL.

But in his first game with the Titans, Johnston took a hard hit in the third period. He played in the next game the following evening, but as it turns out, the 21-year-old has a concussion. The Trentonian reported that Friday afternoon, even though Johnston and head coach Vince Williams didn’t confirm publicly.

“It didn’t hit me until the next day,” [Johnston] said. “When I came off (after the hit), with the adrenaline or whatever, I felt fine. I don’t regret playing (the next day), I don’t want to miss any games. That’s the type of guy I am. If I felt fine to play, I’m going to go out and do that.”

The paper says Johnston is day-to-day with the injury.
