Lehigh Valley welcomes East Division opponent Binghamton to the PPL Center tonight for the final time in the regular season after six days off since its last contest.
With nearly a week off since their 5-4 overtime loss to Hartford, the Phantoms have had time to work out some “fixable mistakes” that has plagued the team in 2015, resulting in their 2-7-2 home record since January.
Last time out against Binghamton (22-26-5-1) the Phantoms (24-22-6-1) dropped a two-goal lead to eventually lose in overtime. Lehigh Valley has dropped three straight to the Senators, and are 3-4-1 against their new rivals this season.
Tonight is the second of three games for Binghamton, who lost 5-1 to East Division leader, the Hershey Bears, last night. The Senators will conclude their weekend in Albany on Sunday.
- The Phantoms’ last OT loss at home was tough, as the team played neck-in-neck with Hartford for more than 60 minutes, battling back in hopes to earn two points for the first time at home since Jan. 24. An unfortunate odd-man rush with less than two minutes remaining in the overtime period gave Hartford the win, even though the Phantoms out shot the Wolf Pack 34-23.
- With Rob Zepp on waivers until tomorrow at noon, the Phantoms will likely start Anthony Stolarz tonight with Martin Ouellette as backup.
- The Phantoms remain in third place in the East Division with 55 points, followed by Binghamton in fourth place with 50 points. Lehigh Valley is currently 12th ranked in the Eastern Conference, nine points behind the eighth and final playoff position in the East with 23 games remaining in the regular season. /
