Another day, another signing out of the KHL by the Philadelphia Flyers.
Yesterday it was long-time KHL defenseman Evgeni Medvedev. Today it’s American right winger Aaron Palushaj, who struggled through six seasons as a professional in the AHL and NHL before leaving to play in the KHL prior to the 2014-15 season. He had just 21 points in 53 games with two KHL clubs last season.

Palushaj was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2007, but never made it to the NHL in that organization. He’s played just 68 NHL games with three teams since — the Canadiens, Avalanche and Hurricanes.
Before being drafted, Palushaj played two seasons at the University of Michigan. He’s represented the United States at the World Junior Championships and the World Championships.
This is probably a signing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He’s a decent AHL player, having twice scored more than 20 goals at that level in his career. Maybe he could fill in with the Flyers in the case of injury, but this is likely just a minor league signing.
