The Philadelphia Flyers traded up to 24th overall to select Travis Konecny. Armed with an extra first round pick from the Braydon Coburn trade, they were able to package it with an extra second from the Kimmo Timonen trade, and turned the two into Konecny.
Konecny who, in what is likely his final junior season, put up 101 points through 60 games. That had him tied for seventh overall in OHL scoring, but wait – take a look at just the even strength numbers.

And just like that, Konency jumps up to second in the league, just ahead of third overall pick Dylan Strome.
Konecny was taken 24th overall. He… maybe should have gone higher?
But we’re thankful he didn’t, because he’s part of the Flyers now. And while there’s, understandably, a lot of excitement about the future of the Flyers’ backend, Konecny brings quite a bit to look forward to up front.

Even when he’s not putting up points – which he did a lot – he’s still often making his peers look like fools.
His transition to the professional leagues is definitely going to be one to watch.
