Tuesday Morning Fly By: Signing day

*Folks, we’ve got two things for you. It was a busy day for the Flyers and a Monday in July for everyone else. Don’t yell at me, I don’t make the links. Anyhoo…

*Danny Briere and the Flyers avoided having to go to arbitration with Noah Cates and signed him to a two-year bridge deal! Excellent news.

*And then a couple of hours later, GMDB got a deal done with Cam York! I think a lot of people (us included) were hoping he’d get locked up long-term, but if you look around the league, players aren’t taking long-term deals as much as they have in years past. With the cap increases coming over the next few years, players (and their agents) are obviously banking on bigger contracts when the pie is a little bigger. So it is what it is.

*We’ve got a full breakdown of both deals courtesy of our pal Charles. [The Athletic]

*And finally, just so there’s another thing… this is from a few days ago but it’s fun, so why not. DGB puts together the best all-buyout team: the best roster made up of players that were bought out of their contracts at one point or another. These exercises are always fun. [The Athletic]
