*Big congrats to those Vegas Golden Knights on their first Cup. Watching a team win at home is always fun; good for them. Pretty wild ride for that club, huh? [ESPN]
*This is Jack Eichel’s first Cup, and he probably wouldn’t have it if not for all of that drama surrounding his surgery. At the end of the day, he paved the way for other NHLers to take more control over their recovery. [ESPN]
*Anyway, the Flyers. They made another hire yesterday, bringing Patrick Sharp in to replace Danny Briere’s now-vacant Assistant TO the General Manager role. Now, Patrick Sharp is a Blackhawks. No one thinks of Patrick Sharp as a Flyers. That said, it’s objectively hilarious that they hired ANOTHER dude that played for the org. We love commitment to a bit.
*Back to the Scott Laughton stuff that kicked up yesterday; the good news for the Flyers is this is kinda like the Carter Hart thing. Can’t lose. Keeping him is good. Trading him for a good value is also good. [BSH]
*If they do end up trading him, it might be to one of these teams, who could definitely use him. [BSH]
*Speaking of trades, the Flyers have a couple of contracts they’d like to be able to dump if they could. Presumably. They’re not the only ones though. [The Athletic]
*Peter Laviolette seems to be very fond of the Metro Division; he’s the new head coach of those New York Rangers (they play in a train station). [Blueshirt Banter]
*The Ottawa Senators have been sold. Not to Ryan Reynolds. Not to Snoop Dogg. Just a regular old billionaire because the NHL is booooorrriiiiiingggg. [Sportsnet]
*And finally, nothing better at the end of the long NHL season than the Sportsnet montage. They never miss with this:
