Best start in nearly a decade!

The Philadelphia Flyers earned their eighth win of the season when Sean Couturier beat Carey Price 55 seconds into overtime, giving the orange and black their best record through fifteen games of Claude Giroux’s captaincy.

Philly dominated play, especially through 40 minutes, but Price, who Carter Hart grew up admiring, kept his team in the game, despite a 34-19 shot differential after two periods. Montreal gained momentum by killing six Flyers power plays, and tied up the score with three minutes remaining in regulation.

Alain Vigneault’s club didn’t falter, however, and ultimately prevailed on the second shift of the extra frame, with a squeaker from Couturier, his fifth, from Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov.

Hart made 22 saves to pick up his third straight win, and fifth through nine starts.
