NCAA hockey tournament schedule 2016: Road to Frozen Four begins Friday

The 2016 NCAA men’s hockey tournament kicks off on Friday with the four games — two each in the Midwest and Northeast Regionals.

The tournament will continue on Saturday with the Regional Finals in each of those two regions, as well as the Regional Semifinals in the East and West Regions. Quinnipiac University is the top overall seed, while the University of North Dakota — former home of Flyers coach Dave Hakstol — is the No. 3 overall seed.

UND has one Flyers draft pick, but it’s unlikely he plays: goalie Matej Tomek, a 2015 draft pick of the club, hasn’t been able to work his way into the lineup as a freshman.

Elsewhere, another Flyers goaltending prospect is a big reason his team is in action today. Harvard’s Merrick Madsen, a 2013 sixth round pick, has played 28 games for the Crimson this year and has put together a 1.96 GAA and a .933 save percentage in those games. Great read on his year from the Boston Globe here.

Freshman forward Cooper Marody has 24 points in 30 games for the University of Michigan Wolverines this season. He was a sixth round pick of the Flyers in 2015.
