The Lehigh Valley Phantoms will open their second season on Saturday, October 10 when they host the Syracuse Crunch at PPL Center in their 2015-16 opener. It’s also the 20th season in the history of the Phantoms franchise, which has called Philadelphia and Glens Falls, N.Y. home in the past.
The American Hockey League released their 2015-16 schedule on Thursday, and as usual the Phantoms will play 76 total games — 38 at home, 38 on the road. The Phantoms will play in-state rivals Hershey and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 12 times each during the season.
They will not play any of the teams from the league’s newly formed Pacific Division. In fact, they only leave the Eastern Time Zone once — in April, when they make the crazy trip to Newfoundland to play the St. John’s IceCaps.
The Rochester Americans and Utica Comets will each make their first visits to Allentown in 2015-16. Utica visits in February and Rochester visits in November. The season concludes on April 17 with another visit from the Syracuse Crunch to the PPL Center.
All Phantoms home games will be televised on Service Electric TV2 in the Lehigh Valley. Elsewhere, games are available via AHL Live. The radio broadcast is available for free online.
